To be eligible to be registered to practice veterinary medicine in BC, an individual must hold a degree in veterinary medicine and must meet relevant occupational competency requirements and all other registration requirements for their chosen class of registration, as established in the CVBC’s bylaws.

A veterinarian who wishes to become registered to practise in BC must be able to provide one of the following in evidence of occupational competency. Which requirement(s) an applicant is able to provide will determine which class(es) of registration they may be eligible for.
- Private Practice of TEMP (Private Practice) class
- Specialty Private Practice of TEMP (Specialty Private Practice) class
- Public Sector class
