The CVBC understands that there are situations which result in an interruption of some or all veterinary services that a practice offers. The College has seen practices be urgently evacuated due to wildfires and floods, as well as building emergencies ranging from minor to catastrophic The unexpected unavailability of staff, especially the DR, may also require the practice or facility to drastically change their availability or hours. Please review the Practice Facility Guide: Interruptions in Service at a Practice or Facility to help navigate any challenges your practice or facility is experiencing during this time. The policy includes information on how to secure your controlled drugs and how to ensure continuity of care for your clients.
These considerations may also apply with planned relocations of practices or facilities.
It is strongly recommended that all practices develop their own protocols for what to do if a facility needs to be evacuated, or services are interrupted for any reason.
These considerations may also apply with planned relocations of practices or facilities.
Each practice or facility’s situation will be unique. Please contact us at facilities@cvbc.ca if you have any questions relating to your practice or facility.
