Eligibility for PSA Registration

A veterinarian in either of the following situations (who otherwise satisfies the registration requirements for Private Practice registration) may ask the Registration Committee to grant them PSA registration in the Private Practice class, pending their successful completion of the NEB’s evaluations and the awarding of a Certificate of Qualification.

1. Internationally-trained veterinarians who:

    • are graduates of veterinary schools not accredited by the AVMA/CVMA-COE (see Registration Requirements), and
    • are registered candidates of the National Examining Board, and
    • have successfully passed the Basic & Clinical Sciences Exam (BCSE), and the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE), but
    • have not yet successfully completed all portions of the Clinical Proficiency Exam (CPE) +/- the Pre-surgical Assessment.

OR

2. Domestic or internationally-trained veterinarians who:

    • are graduates of COE-accredited veterinary schools, but
    • required more than 2 attempts to successfully pass the NAVLE and are therefore required by the NEB to also complete the practical examinations to receive a CQ; and
    • are registered candidates of the NEB, and
    • have successfully passed the NAVLE (in 3+ attempts), but
    • have not yet successfully completed all portions of the Clinical Proficiency Exam (CPE) +/- the Pre-Surgical Assessment.
